4. Description of Compliance with Accessibility Requirements
4.1 Application of Harmonized Standards and Technical Specifications
Our online presence complies with:
- partially with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version: 2.1. It meets level AA.
The WCAG are an international standard for accessibility guidelines, developed and maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the body responsible for standardizing web technologies. The goal of these guidelines is to create structures for digital offerings that enable access and use for all persons in terms of digital accessibility.
4.2 Supportive Measures
Our website provides the following supportive measures:
-
Technical analysis and error correction:
We conducted an initial accessibility audit in accordance with the requirements of WCAG 2.1 (Level AA), based on the EN 301 549 standard. Tools such as WAVE, Google Lighthouse, and axe DevTools were used. Critical issues on the homepage, category pages, and product detail pages have already been resolved.
-
Alt texts and semantic structure:
We reviewed and optimized image alt texts wherever technically feasible.
-
Redesign planning with WCAG considerations:
Existing contrast issues (e.g., color and text contrasts) have been documented and included in UX redesign planning. A dedicated work package has been created for this and will be implemented shortly.
-
Third-party components:
Limitations caused by third-party plugins (e.g., non-controllable contrasts or missing alt texts) have been identified. Where possible, solutions are being evaluated or more accessible alternatives considered.
-
Future content:
For all new content published from June 28, 2025, an internal review process will be established to ensure compliance with the legal requirements of the BFSG (German Accessibility Reinforcement Act).
